Integral to this event being a success will be stringent use of face coverings and social distancing. We don’t want the K of C to make the front page of The News-Herald as the latest viral hot spot. Our committee is working very hard to make this a safe event as well as a happy event so if you don’t want to come in the front door of the lounge wearing a face covering, go somewhere else. Once you enter the lounge you will notice there are fewer tables and chairs. This is order to encourage social distancing. Go to the bar and purchase your drink and pay for it. Next go out into the courtyard and purchase your steaks. At certain times we may request that you delay grilling your steak to prevent crowding around the grills. In that case you are free to back into the lounge for another drink. After grilling your steak go over to the big hall. Also instead of a buffet where you help yourself to bread, baked potato, and salad, there will be a bread and potato station where you will go to receive these items and a salad station. In the case that the safe capacity of the main hall is exceeded, the Fr. Saylor Room will be opened. By using the total dining capacity of our facility we hope to accommodate the usual turnout of our Steak Cookouts without compromising safe Social Distancing. In the meantime start whetting your carnivore appetite because although the price of good cuts of meat has been skyrocketing and its availability is scarce, Tony Lalli has worked very hard to secure a supply of our famous strip steaks. And Joe Martinez has insisted that we hold the price this spring to $12.00. This makes the
Fr Saylor cookout the best steak deal in all of SE Michigan. Now, remembered it is six weeks from when we go to press (Feb 22nd) and the cookout. A lot can happen in that time especially the face-to-face reopening of many schools on March 1st. We hope and pray that the trends of the past several weeks continues and that by
the time of the steak Cookout levels of transmission statewide are down to those of mid-June. If there is a sharp outbreak associated with the restart of school and another lockdown is warranted we will put a cancelled banner on the sandwich board in front of the lounge. Hope to see you March 31st..
